Standard Instructions

Step 1:

Depending on the size of the tattoo, remove your bandage in 1 to 6 hours. If the bandage is stuck to the skin, soak with warm water and remove carefully. DO NOT re‐bandage the tattoo.

Step 2:

Wash the tattooed area with an antibacterial soap and warm water, then pat dry. DO NOT re‐bandage the tattoo.

Step 3:

With clean hands, apply a thin layer of tattoo aftercare (AfterInked) 2 to 3 times a day, for 2 weeks. You may also (very gently) wash the tattoo with soap and water up to twice a day.

More Details:

The tattoo may form a layer of dry skin or lightly scab in a few days. It will flake off by itself within a few days. This is normal.

DO NOT use Vaseline or any petroleum jelly as the initial healing agent.

DO NOT pick or scratch at the tattoo while it is healing.

DO NOT go swimming, take baths, or go into hot tubs for at least 2 weeks.

No Excessive Sunlight‐ When the tattoo is healed, you may use SPF 45 sun block to protect the tattoo & keep it from fading.

Exposure to toxins, bacteria, nursing homes, hospitals, animals and dirt of all kinds may cause infection. Be smart and use common sense. Please do not hesitate to call us with any questions or concerns.

Consult a healthcare professional for:

  • Any rash
  • Unexpected drainage at or from the site of the body art procedure, or
  • A fever within 24 to 72 hours after the body art procedure.

Saniderm Instructions

Step 1:

Leave the Saniderm bandage on your new tattoo for between 8 and 24 hours. Everyone heals differently, and the length of time will vary depending on how much fluid your tattoo is weeping. When the adhesion of the Saniderm bandage begins to weaken, that’s your cue to remove or replace the bandage.

Step 2:

After you apply the first Saniderm bandage, the second and third bandages can be worn for 3 to 5 days before needing changing. If you need more bandages, you can purchase them anytime from your artist.

More Details:

How do I remove Saniderm? Find an edge of the bandage, and then pull it back over itself in the direction of hair growth. Pulling upward on the Saniderm can be painful, so we don’t recommend it. In some cases, people can “stick” to the Saniderm bandage, which can make it more difficult than normal to remove. In cases like that, try removing the Saniderm in a warm shower. The warmth will loosen the adhesive, and make it easier to remove. If that doesn’t work, take a small amount of After Inked and apply it around the edges of the bandage.

Can I get Saniderm wet? Do not take a bath or go swimming after applying your Saniderm. Taking a shower isn’t an issue. Saniderm stays on skin even when wet, however, it is important to still monitor the time you spend in the shower. Avoid soaking the area. As with all tattoo aftercare regulations, you should avoid submerging your tattoo in any body of water.

Can I tan with Saniderm on? Saniderm does not contain any kind of sun protection, so you should avoid prolonged sun or UV ray exposure. We do not recommend exposing your new tattoo to UV rays, with or without Saniderm. Even after your tattoo is fully healed, continue to use sun protection to preserve the integrity of your tattoo’s colors.

Could I have an allergic reaction to Saniderm? Saniderm is both latex free and hypoallergenic, so allergic reactions are very rare. However, some may have extremely sensitive skin or allergies to adhesives. If you do experience a rash, abnormal skin irritation, or other symptoms of an allergic reaction, discontinue use and wash with mild soap. Is it okay to exercise and workout with Saniderm? Exercising and working out while wearing Saniderm is fine. However, be aware that sweating can weaken the adhesive of Saniderm and cause the bandage to come off prematurely. We advise you to take it easy and keep the sweating to a minimum!

Do not use Saniderm if you experience reactions to medical adhesives, such as band-aids, Tegaderm, or similar products.
